So, I’m down here at the Darkside cleaning up and preparing for the Saturday night blog fever gig that we will have cooking tonight, Torrie and Buttercup are stocking the bar, and Honey Buns is waxing the dance floor. Boom Boom is in her office doing paper work, while I adjust and dust off the Juke box.. There will be a nice crowd here tonight, good friends, good music, food wine and spirits will be flowing.. I told Honey to keep the front door locked until we got the place ready, but that didn’t stop somebody from banging on it. So I open it up, and in pops Barney Fife, like Jack Lord on a sugar rush.. He looks around.. Chit.. I’m having a Hawaii Five O/ Mayberry moment. and so I check to see if I’m the only unfortunate soul that sees him.. Nobody else seems to take notice. Not even Torrie..
“What in the blue heck are you doing here Barn?.” I whisper inquisitively.
He hikes up his pants. This is the first time that I actually see him.. And lord help me, he does look just like Barney Fife.
“I wanna know what’s going on in this place Scratch.. Are you doing anything illegal here?”
“No.”
“You Sure?”
“Yep.”
“So what are you Spiffying the place up for Scratch?”
“Its Saturday Barn.. Tonight is the big Saturday Night Blog Fever shindig on the Blogstream.”
“Saaaay, you got dancing?”
“Yes.”
“So.. there will be dancing and drinking?”
“Yes I suppose so.. Why?”
“I will be in the neighborhood Scratch, and I will be watching you, and if any trouble starts at this party of yours I’ll be here to nip it in the bud. So just remember. Barney is always on the case Scratch.”
I look over at the bar and Torrie is staring at me with a puzzled look on her face. Barney exits and I close and relock the door behind him, and as I return to the Jukebox I can feel Torrie’s eyes following me, her head slowly shaking back and forth.. I really got to get that Juke box ready for tonight.
Scratch.
