 Lookin Class.

It is almost 11:30 pm here at the Darkside, all that are present are eagerly awaiting the first new Roundtable of the season, we are all anticipating the arrival or our first guest of honor. She is a very well known women in the Blogstream circle, and as the dust clouds settle down around the wheels of the private limousine, as it slowly rolls to a stop, Miss Lookin is ushered into the room where she will take her place at the head of the Roundtable.

Relative Distance.

I have had several paranormal ghostly experiences. I have had lived in houses that were haunted – I have had Quigi board experiences that have scared the living “be Jesus” out of me and I have had several experiences where ghosts have actually communicated with me. Let me prefix this by saying that I do believe that ghosts exist. – Do I think that they are scary – Yes and maybe you can agree or have the hair on your neck attest that fact to you after hearing this?

Let me first state that when you grow up with a family that talks and sees “spirits” on a regular basis – nothing appears “abnormal” to you about that stuff. This was a normal night back years ago that even for us turned “abby-normal”. My parents were visiting my Aunt and Uncle’s home back in 1965. I had been living at their home to finish school, being my parents were traveling. Because they were traveling in from another state, they were going to staying a few days in their home. We had all gotten together for dinner (families like mine – eat when their happy) and we just catching up on the gossip of “who did what to whom” when all of a sudden – I heard my Mom say to my Aunt (her Sister) “Did you see that?”

That is how is always began – some little sphere would appear in the corner of the room, the temperature would drop about 15 degrees, there would be a different chill and sometimes even the drapes would blow. Very fake and easy to assimilate – but in our case it was all very real. Just about the time the entire household had gotten wind of what was going on – someone would say “time for bed – kids” Now if you know anything about being scared – you sure as heck don’t want to be sent to a room where the lights are out right after you have heard there are ghosts in the house. But that is what they would always do – and we kids were always scared to death and grew up “sleeping together” as protection and on this night – “cousins” were sharing their beds with us. Got the picture?

My luck was this – I was 17 and old enough to stay up and be in on the excitement with the grownups. I say excitement, because I had already witnessed this many times and I could even see the visions progressions into a person and I was excited about seeing who it was going to be. We always knew that whatever we were seeing would eventually become either a man or a woman, old or young and someone may recognized them. There message was always “weird” and we liked being the people who knew what was happening before anyone else. Anyway so that this story doesn’t get overly long, this procedure as we called it, began to take shape. This goes on and on for several hours and instead of becoming scary almost takes on a comfortable tone in the room. By about 10pm I am bored with all the stuff and too sleepy to stay awake any longer, so my Aunt makes me a bed on the sofa hide-a-bed.

I lay there a bit and all of a sudden I look over my head and standing behind me is a lady with long dark hair and wearing a silk nightgown, soft pink in color. She does not frighten me; in fact, I am put at ease by her calling my name. She says, “Lookin’ – I just came here to tell you all goodbye – I am going to die and there is nothing you can do about it – but I did want to say I love you all and to let you know I am ok.” At that point I say very calmly “Ok, well I’m glad you let me know, I will tell them and I love you too.”
Then I roll over to my side and realize that I am on the couch and everyone in the room is looking at me. I say, “Hey guess what just happened?” - To which they all tell me that a woman was standing at my head and bending over me as if talking and asked what happened. When I related it to them – everyone was shocked and mystified but a blank as to whom or what it meant. We all just sat there for about an hour and then the phone rang and we were notified from Mexico hospital that my cousin was there and had died from an overdose that she had been given by her Husband to abort a baby. The drug he had given her had totally shut down her bodily functions and she died without ever awakening. She was 28; long dark hair, beautiful and she had died in a pink nightgown.

Why she chose me to relay a message I will never know – but I have never forgot

It is true everyone loves a good ghost story, and as all of the guests slowly filter out into the tavern they all know that they have sat through a very good one. And so we raise our glasses into a toast for Miss Lookin and her dearly departed cousin. After all, everything is relative here at the Darkside.
